5 Highest Mountain In Indonesia

A biggest archipelago in the world, thousand of unique places in the whole country, the best place when people want to go away from their routinity. That whole things are wrapped up in one country, "INDONESIA".





Besides beach, most of islands in indonesia became home from the mountainous with an evelation more than 2000 metres above sea level. Either volcano or not, mountain in Indonesia has become favorite destination for hikers. Here's 5 highest mountain in Indonesia that you must hike :



5. Mount Semeru (3676 m)
It is the highest volcano in Java island and still active. In indonesia, Mount Semeru the third highest volcano after Mount Kerinci and Mount Rinjani. The peak of volcano is called as "Mahameru" or abode of god. Mahameru itself means "the great mountain". Located in Malang, this mountain has been known by hikers as a horror mountain because there are many people said they've met "ghost market".



It takes 2 days to get the peak of mount Semeru. Journey starts from Malang bus station then continued by using truck until Ranu pani (the first post). Don't forget to do-checking in Ranu Pani then you can start hiking from there.



4. Mount Rinjani (3726 m)
Located in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. It turns out that Lombok has the second highest volcano in Indonesia. Not only chain of beaches, but also mount rinjani has been known for a long time. in 1995, the biggest eruption was occured here, but tourist still not afraid of that.



3. Mount Kerinci (3805 m)
Located in Jambi, Sumatera. The highest volcano in Indonesia and still active. But the scenery was so epic. That is why this mountain never been uncrowded. Mount kerinci is surrounded by seven mountains which are very beautiful. Then there are Penuh river and Coffe plantation in around mount Kerinci. If you want to hike mount Kerinci, you can reach from Padang, Jambi and bengkulu. But for airplane, I reccomend you to land in Padang because there is an international airport which is called as "Minang Kabau International Airport"


2. Trikora Peak (4750 m)
Also called as wilhemina peak located in West Papua, Indonesia. This mountain lies in the eastern part of Sudirman (nassau) of Maoke Mountain. It is the second highest mountain in Papua and also Indonesia. If you want to hike this mountain, you can take a flight to Jayapura then you can continue by taking local flight from Jayapura to Wamena. After getting Wamena, you go to Balliem valley. From there, you can start trekking to the trikora peak. See the beautiful landscape from up there.



1. Jaya Wijaya Mountain (4884 m)
The highest mountain in Indonesia which is located in Papua. This mountain is still part of Sudirman (nassau). In 1962, Robert phillip temple and friends were the first hikkers in JayaWijaya. Actually, this mountain was closed for tourist because it was not safety in 2005. But, one year later, Hikkers can hike this mountain, but they have to take tourism agency.
